[AUDIO] Gospel Legends: The Blind Boys of Alabama

The Blind Boys of Alabama at NPR | Sound Check Music BlogLet the sounds of one of the greatest gospel groups the world has ever known grace your ears.

Since 1939, The Blind Boys of Alabama have cranked out over 60 albums, which secured them a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and an induction into the Gospel Hall of Fame.

The boys have undergone many changes since the late 30s.  They have watched old members pass away and have introduced new ones, both blind and sighted.  Their determination to spread the Word using a country blues-like sound has helped The Blind Boys of Alabama’s legacy live on throughout time.

The Bind Boys of Alabama recently graced the Tiny Desk stage at NPR to promote their new album, Take the High Road, which features appearances by country stars including Jamey Johnson, Willie Nelson, Lee Ann Womack, and Hank Williams Jr..
