Elvis Presley Remembered on 34th Anniversary of His Death
The world is alive today, sharing thoughts and memories about the late Elvis Presley, who died 34 years ago today on August 16, 1977.
To remember, thousands of fans trekked to Graceland for a midnight-to-morning memorial service dedicated to The King. Some traveled from as far away as Japan, England, and Germany. Fans gathered around Elvis’ grave, lit candles, and sang Elvis songs.
Life Magazine embraced the Elvis spirit by sharing a “Wild Life and Times” photo essay, which you can view below. The essay compares the life of Elvis and Michael Jackson. Life also released the front page report of Elvis’ death (the picture at the top of the article) from Elvis’ hometown paper.
Twitter has also caught Elvis fever, as Elvis devotees are tweeting memories, thoughts, and 140 character stories about how Elvis touched their lives.
