Forget-Me-Not: Genesis-”I Can’t Dance”
“I Can’t Dance” is the ultra badass tune from Genesis, off their 6th studio album (as a trio) entitled We Can’t Dance. The song went on to do remarkable in the United States, as well as UK, and consistently stopped in on every relevant Top 10 chart at the time.
Mike Rutherford wrote the main guitar riff for the song and originally called it “Heavy A Flat“; however, when good ol’ Phil got a hold of the song he gave it the moniker of “I Can’t Dance!” Much more appropriate indeed.
The song is basically a stab at commercial advertising and all of its nonsense “image/brand ratio” BS.
At the end of the video there is a more than awesome scene where Phil gets down Michael Jackson style holding parody to the end of Jackson’s video to his song “Black or White.” Can’t love you enough for that Phil.
I guarantee once you reacquaint yourself with this one that you listen to it at least twice this week.
Enjoy.
