Free Music Friday: Railroad Earth at the Georgia Theatre

Railroad Earth at Georgia Theatre | Sound Check Music BlogDo-si-do with Railroad Earth – Live from the Georgia Theatre (2.25.09). This concert is one that I attended with a group of college buddies.  For the moment, it was the escape from reality we all needed.

The show was during a time when the recession was in full effect and my friends and I were struggling to find work.  It was about three months after my December graduation – when the only emails I received were ones telling of hiring freezes or of company downsizing.

Needless to say, I was depressed and Railroad Earth was the cure.

The show was one that made me proud to be from the south.  The band blasted out ballads, lost themselves in jam sessions, and of course, sported ole’ fashioned dancin’ jigs.  Everyone was kicking up their feet and having a grand ole’ time.  My personal favorite tunes were “Mighty River” and “Bringin’ My Baby Back Home.”

But decide for yourself.  Stream or download the show below.  If you listen closely, maybe you can hear my infamous “Weeeee Hoooo!!” scream.

You can download Railroad Earth live from the Georgia Theatre here.

And checkout a lovely performance of “Bringing My Baby Back Home” from the Colonial Theater, just four days before the Athens show.
