Music on Cable TV: Why Cable Matters [Guest Blog from CableTelevision.net]
Think Cable Television doesn’t matter? Think again. Check out this guest blog from CableTelevision.net.
For many people, there seem to be fewer and fewer reasons to spend money on television providers. In fact, some people like to suggest that television as we know it will inevitably decline in the coming years. This is because of an increase in programs such as Netflix, Hulu, and others, which bring consumers not only wide selections of films, but also entire seasons full of television shows. Meanwhile, people can access most of their news and sports programming on the Internet.
However, while such services and developments are in some cases making television obsolete, there are still a few reasons to subscribe to Cable TV, particularly for people with certain interests. For example, for fans of popular music, cable programming can provide lots of different glimpses into concerts and new music that aren’t available elsewhere.
To begin with, there are still a number of channels on television devoted entirely to covering music and showcasing popular new bands and shows. MTV leads the pack, and though this network has become a bit more concerned with reality shows and teen-geared programming, there is still a certain amount of music coverage involved. There are also channels like VH1, as well as a number of channels devoted to particular genres of music (country, hip-hop, etc.) that can appeal to more particular fans.
Moreover, some of the best concert viewing available happens on cable, meaning that you may be able to catch live performances from your favorite bands without having to follow them on tour or even get off of your couch. One way to do this is to keep an eye on late night shows and award shows, which commonly host performances from some of the hottest bands of the time playing some of their most popular hits. Additionally, some late night programming includes TV coverage of large concert events, which can be fantastic to watch on a nice TV with a good sound
system.
Ultimately, we are certainly moving toward a world in which ordinary cable programming is less necessary for things like sports and news. However, the amount of content available on TV is still expanding, and now includes all sorts of ways to enjoy specific interests, such as music.
If you have been looking for a way to keep closer tabs on today’s best bands and songs, you may want to look into some of the channels and options mentioned above. Many people don’t realize how much musical coverage there is on cable.
