Thursday Jazz Session: Sade-”Smooth Operator (Jazz)”
The group Sade was one of many 80s memory makers. Their hit “Smooth Operator“–off of their wildly successful album entitled Diamond Life (1984)–is still played @ almost every 80s-nostalgia themed club across the nation, regularly.
The version we share with you today is a rare event in which the band takes the songs original skeleton and fuses it with the passion plays of great jazz.
This song was Sade’s first top 10 hit in the United States and came in at No. 5 on Billboard’s Top 100 chart for two weeks in a row.
If you don’t care to hear the tune for the millionth time I suggest taking this video to roughly 4:40 and letting it finish out. Incredible!!!
Enjoy and Happy Thursday. Please click on the link below to view.
