Tom Petty Disapproves of Michele Bachmann Using “American Girl”
Tom Petty is upset with presidential candidate Michele Bachmann after she began a rally yesterday with “American Girl.”
Immediately after hearing the news, Tom Petty’s team sent Bachmann a cease and desist letter, which likely read something like this:
Dear Ms. Bachmann,
You have had your “Last Dance” with my song “American Girl.” I tried “Listening to Your Heart,” but decided that I “Don’t Know How It Feels” to be you. “You Got Lucky” this time. Please “Don’t Do Me Like That.”
If you do not comply, you’ll be “Free Fallin’” your way “Into the Great Wide” courtroom.
“I Won’t Back Down.”
Love,
Tom
This isn’t Tom Petty’s first time denying presidential hopefuls song use privileges.
In 2000, Petty banned George W. Bush from playing “I Won’t Back Down” at Bush rallies. So much for allowing conservatives “run down their dream.”
